For the second consecutive year, the event “+ Que Compliance” brought together leaders from the worlds of compliance and corporate governance in Chile. Organized by Estado Diario and Women in Compliance Chile (WICC), the event took place on Thursday, September 25, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Santiago, utilizing music as a common thread to address the sector’s main challenges from an innovative perspective.
The event featured presentations and panels on key topics such as the challenges of cybersecurity compliance, the relationship between Compliance Officers and the board, the impact of technology on compliance, the importance of whistleblower channels as cultural tools, ethical leadership, and the specific challenges faced by the private sector.
One of the most anticipated talks was delivered by the Comptroller General of the Republic, Dorothy Pérez, who spoke about the National Control System. In her presentation, she highlighted progress in the effective oversight of public services, emphasizing that the goal is to restore trust in public institutions through the promotion of the common good. She also noted that strengthening controls and increasing auditing rigor have discouraged fraudulent behavior within the public sector.
A large part of the BH Compliance team attended the event, participating in various talks and panels — a day that allowed us to learn, reflect, and share experiences essential to our daily work. Representing the firm, our CEO and WICC co-founder, Susana Sierra, played a key role as moderator of the panel “Compliance Challenges in the Private Sector”, alongside respected leaders such as board directors Pilar Dañobeitía, Tina Rosenfeld, and Tamara Agnic, and Freeport-McMoRan’s Country Manager, Mario Larenas.
The day was not only a learning opportunity, but also a space for connection that reaffirms our belief that compliance is not just an obligation, but a culture built through teamwork.
